Her innate talent for design coupled with her dry British wit has made Debbie Travis a beloved television icon around the world, the largest celebrity brand in Canada, a best selling author, a sought-after public speaker and the center of a small business empire. Her shows are seen in over 80 countries, her weekly syndicated newspaper column is read by over 6 million readers in North America, she has authored 9 books and has created a Home Collection with over 1000 products. Now she gets to relax, just a little. Debbie has created a haven in Tuscany where like minded women can come and experience the Tuscan lifestyle in her magically restored villa.
After many years of working hard producing her television shows and running her television production company Debbie found herself looking for something ‘more’. She had first visited Italy while filming one of her TV shows which sparked the dream of one day owning a place there. The dream soon grew legs as she and her husband embarked on the long search for a home. They travelled to the north of this beautiful country, they explored Sicily, stunning Puglia, the east coast and the west but they kept returning to Tuscany. It was Southern Tuscany that they fell in love with and when they first discovered this region in the district of Siena they immediately and instinctively knew it was a special place. A peaceful place, a historic place, a place of re-birth. LA DOLCE VITA, the sweet life. As Debbie fell deeper and deeper in love with Tuscany’s beauty and charm, she had the idea of sharing its transformative powers with other women. While the search for the perfect property continued Debbie began a series of exclusive Getaways for groups of women in a rental villa. It was an overnight success and soon they found their own perfect property to host these retreats. It took nearly four years to renovate the rundown estate into a luxury boutique hotel.
In 2016 Debbie launched La Dolce Debbie on OWN – a 6 part documentary series about her journey of restoring the 13th century ruin in the heart of Tuscany. Plus her own brand of Pinot Grigio.
Debbie shares her journey with her husband Hans and two sons, Josh and Max.
